It can be done with our DENTAL VIRTUAL FACELIFT®. An "occlusion" refers to the alignment of your teeth. A malocclusion means there is a deviation or misalignment from your normal occlusion. Overbites, crossbites, underbites and even open bites are all types of malocclusions. An overbite is when the upper teeth stick out too far past the lower teeth. There are three different types of malocclusions. A Class One Malocclusion means a normal bite is also accompanied by a slight overlap of the upper teeth. A class one is the most common type of malocclusion. Class Two Malocclusions are when the overbite is severe; this is often known as a retrognathic. A Class Three is a severe underbite, where the lower teeth overlap the upper teeth. This is also known as prognathic.
What Causes an Underbite?
Genetics and heredity often play a role in the development of an underbite. Some underbites are the result of thumb sucking, tongue-thrusting, or the extended use of a pacifier during early childhood. others are caused by a malformed jaw. It is highly recommended that underbites be treated since they can inhibit chewing and cause strain in the teeth and jaw muscles.Your new smile will feel great, look great and last a long time!
